6.-7.2.2014: Closing ceremony in Freiberg

The ceremony took place in this old house in Freiberg
The winner of the sustainability award, category "green app ideas"

The final event of the jubilee year was in Freiberg, Saxony, on February 6th and 7th. With 150 participants, the event was very well attended. The focus was the award ceremony of the Sustainability Award  of the German forestry. The winners presented their pieces and ideas. Finally, there were lively discussions on the issue in a "World CafĂ©" by all participants about the questions, who is responsible for the development of a sustainable society - individuals, politics or the economy.

"Freiberg" was distinguished by the unusual range of topics and speakers and a "vitality", which is rarely found in similar forestry meetings. In retrospect, the event can be interpreted almost as a "mirror image" of sustainability: Starting from the origin in the forest 300 years ago, sustainability has become one overarching mission statement into society - on technical topics and boundaries. This development, however, and is not a "one-way", but the demands and needs of society influence the development of the understanding of sustainability in forestry. This interaction in terms of a "dialogue" as part of the closing ceremony became tangible and vivid.
